Sampling is a technique by which a part of the population is selected and results from this fraction are generalized on the whole population from which the part or sample was selected. In general, there are two types of samples, namely, probability and non-probability samples. Our focus in this handbook is on probability samples. The overview will cover survey units, sample design, and basic sampling strategies, with examples.
