A transport mode choice model, to be described in this chapter, was developed for use in predicting international differences across transport mode choices by countries in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Those predicted differences can be used in analyses of scenarios of future infrastructure construction or service upgrades. Mode choice is fundamental in transport applications in general and freight demand estimation in particular. Indeed, quantifying the goods movements between countries for each transport mode is essential to defining the infrastructures and services needed to support the mobility of goods.
