Energy, natural resources and geospatial information

In 2015, the conservation, development and use of energy and natural resources along with the development and promotion of global geospatial information remained the focus of several United Nations bodies in 2015. The International Atomic Energy Agency, in addition to its work on the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons, continued to assist its member States in applying nuclear technology in areas such as energy security, human health and food security, water resources and the environment. The Agency organized major meetings and events in the course of the year, including its first International Conference on Computer Security in a Nuclear World, which took place in June and highlighted that computer security was an essential element in nuclear security to guard against increasingly sophisticated online threats in a digitally dependent and interconnected environment.
