In 2015, the United Nations continued its work on various aspects of statistics, mainly through the Statistical Commission and the Statistics Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. In January, the Global Conference on a Transformative Agenda for Official Statistics formulated recommendations on the modernization of statistical systems in response to increased demands for more detailed and more timely data to monitor progress on the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was adopted by the General Assembly in September. At its forty-sixth session in March, the Statistical Commission endorsed the proposed road map for the development and implementation of an indicator framework for the measurement of the goals and targets of the post-2015 development agenda, including the work programme of the associated Friends of the Chair group and the formation of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators.
