Preface

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Eurasian Economic Commission, and the China National Institute of Standardization, working with other partners, teamed up to develop this revised third edition of the Glossary of trade facilitation terms, including for the first time the Chinese translation of the terms, to become an English-Russian-Chinese vocabulary on trade facilitation. This revised third edition includes revisions of many terms and new terms reflecting the rapid development of e-business tools as well as terms included in the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) that entered into force on 22 February 2017. It responds to the need to provide clearer and more precise English-Russian-Chinese translations to be used for building capacity in the broader Eurasian space in one of the most dynamic areas of international trade development today – trade facilitation.
