Historically, Africa has always faced an uneven climate with extreme and severe weather events, floods, heatwaves and droughts. However, extreme weather events have recently become more frequent and Central Africa is expected to become more vulnerable to climate change in future. 18 It is becoming clear that Central African cities are affected more rapidly by the impacts of increasing climate variability than first thought.
