Framing the water-energy-food security nexus

This chapter highlights the extent to which the WEF security nexus can serve as an effective analytical framework in support of sustainable development in the Arab region. The nexus approach enables broad analysis taking into account security and a human rights-based approach to development from an integrated perspective. It makes it possible to look at synergies, the use of appropriate technologies and issues such as climate change, population growth and urbanization, changes in production and consumption patterns, and ecosystem degradation.
