Recommendations and the way forward

All girls and boys have the right to be protected from violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect. There can be no doubt that violence against children is a significant obstacle to the development of societies and economies. The effects of violence against children echo throughout lifetimes and on all levels of society. A sustainable development agenda that hopes to be effective therefore needs to encompass children’s right to protection from violence at its very core.
