The Seminar served as a forum for States in the region to ascertain that the implementation of UNSCR 1540 is a long-term and continual process, to confirm that concrete challenges exist with respect to its implementation, and to highlight their firm commitment to international disarmament and non-proliferation instruments. Recommendations proposed for implementation, in coordination with the 1540 Committee, were to organize outreach and awarenessraising activities, particularly in the Caribbean, provide technical assistance on matters related to the implementation of UNSCR 1540, and strengthen the role of regional and subregional organizations in related activities.
