Gender equality and women’s empowerment

In APMD, member States committed to enhance gender equality and women’s empowerment through gender mainstreaming; strengthening legal frameworks to end gender discrimination; ensuring policies and programmes are set in place to eliminate violence against women and girls; encouraging women to participate in leadership and decision-making positions; and improving collection, analysis, dissemination and use of sex-disaggregated data. SDG 5 calls on Member States to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
