Final remarks

The world population has reached the 8 billion milestone. According to the current scenarios, the population will continue to grow in the coming years, reaching a peak of between 9 billion and 11 billion between 2050 and the end of the century. This increase in population creates challenges and opportunities which need to be addressed through the correct policies to ensure development while addressing the sustainability of activities of humankind.
