Key Statistics and Trends in International Trade 2022
Trade trends during the last three years have been greatly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. During 2020 the economic disruptions brought about by COVID-19 resulted in a decline of international trade in goods and services. However as global demand resumed international trade strongly rebounded in 2021 and further increased during 2022. Overall the value of global trade is expected to be about 25 per cent higher in 2022 than it was in 2019. A substantial part of the increase in the value of trade during the last two years can be explained by rising commodity prices and more recently by general inflation. Trade volumes grew to a smaller extent. Even so the steady increase in the volume of international trade since early 2021 indicates a robust global demand for traded goods.

It is addressed to a variety of stakeholders but especially to policymakers with the aim of providing guidance on how to design policies and measures that enhance women’s beneficial participation in the economy by leveraging e-commerce. Nevertheless private sector stakeholders are encouraged to examine the findings of this policy review to determine opportunities for collaboration with government including through public-private partnerships.

UNRISD Flagship Report 2022
There is perhaps no stronger evidence of the pressing need to redesign our global system than the fact that a global health crisis doubled the wealth of the 10 richest men in the world while sending upwards of 120 million people into extreme poverty. This UNRISD Flagship Report shows how inequalities and crises reinforce and compound each other leading to extreme disparity vulnerability and unsustainability. It argues that this is not the result of a broken system but one in which inequality and injustice are built in by design. The social contract has unravelled to the great detriment of people and planet. The report associates the multiple crises and increasing inequalities we are facing with policy choices promoted during the age of neoliberal hyperglobalization. It unpacks the implications for sustainable development and for disadvantaged social groups through the lenses of intersectionality and power. To address inequality break the cycle of multiple and interlocking crises and work toward a more equal just and sustainable future the report proposes the creation of a new eco-social contract and a policy approach based on alternative economies transformative social policies and reimagined multilateralism and strengthened solidarities.

UNESCO Science Report 2021
It is striking how development priorities have aligned over the past five years. Countries of all income levels are prioritizing their transition to digital and ‘green’ economies in parallel. This dual transition reflects a double imperative. On the one hand the clock is ticking for countries to reach their Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. On the other countries are convinced that their future economic competitiveness will depend upon how quickly they transition to digital societies. This seventh edition of the report monitors the development path that countries have been following over the past five years from the perspective of science governance. It documents the rapid societal transformation under way which offers new opportunities for social and economic experimentation but also risks exacerbating social inequalities unless safeguards are put in place.
