Main providers of the official statistics are Statistics Estonia and the Bank of Estonia. Statistics Estonia is responsible for most part of the official statistics. The Bank of Estonia compiles the Balance of Payments. Additionally it is in charge of monetary and financial institutions’ statistics. Statistics Estonia is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance. Director General is nominated by the Minister of Finance on permanent terms.
