This is the 32nd edition of the United Nations Disarmament Yearbook. The series was created to provide a convenient and reliable reference to the work of the various arenas and organizations that together comprise what has come to be called the “UN disarmament machinery”. At the intergovernmental level, the Yearbook covers the annual process of forging resolutions of the General Assembly and its First Committee, the negotiations and discussions in the Conference on Disarmament and the deliberations of the Disarmament Commission. At the Secretariat level, there is an account in the publication of the Secretary-General’s reform of the disarmament sector of the United Nations with the establishment of the Office for Disarmament Affairs in April 2007, and the appointment of a High Representative for Disarmament Affairs to head it.
