Work of the Advisory Board on Disarmament Studies

The Advisory Board on Disarmament Studies was originally established following a decision taken by the General Assembly at its tenth special session, in 1978, as a group of eminent persons to advise the Secretary-General on studies to be made under the auspices of the United Nations in the field of disarmament. The Board’s first members, who were appointed by the then Secretary-General, Kurt Waldheim, served until the expiration of his term of office. The Board did not meet during 1982.
