Relationship between disarmament and development

As EARLY AS 1950, the General Assembly of the United Nations determined that for the realization of lasting peace and security, it was indispensable to reduce to a minimum the diversion of human and economic resources for armaments and to strive towards the development of such resources for the general welfare of all peoples.
