Nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation issues

Nuclear disarmament issues have been on the international agenda since the beginning of the nuclear age. A number of unilateral initiatives and bilateral and multilateral agreements have led to the reduction of nuclear arsenals and to the exclusion of nuclear weapons from certain environments and regions. International norms to prevent the proliferation and testing of such weapons have been established, and legal aspects of the threat or use of nuclear weapons have also been addressed in recent years.
