Studies and information

Information and training activities in the field of disarmament have been carried out by the United Nations for many years. Expert studies, an ongoing information programme, fellowships, training and advisory services, publications and research comprise the core of activities. The Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters advises the Secretary-General on topical and emerging disarmament issues as well as on the studies programme and implementation of the information programme. It also serves as the Board of Trustees for the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). This chapter covers the status of several governmental expert studies, the activities undertaken by DDA under the United Nations Disarmament Information Programme (UNDIP), and UNIDIR’s research programme.
