Reflecting on the characteristics of Nigeria’s economic history, its current juncture and prospects, the ADR examined the past with a forward-looking perspective.

Strategic positioning and relevance of UNDP programmes

This chapter analyses UNDP’s programmes undertaken between 1997-2003 with a view to determining the overall responsiveness and relevance of these interventions to Nigeria’s human development priorities. The focus is on how UNDP strategically positioned itself to respond to these priorities and emerging issues and leveraged its resources and comparative advantage to build strategic partnerships with the government and other development partners to support the country’s development agenda.
