Selected economic issues and policies

Recent developments concerning foreign direct investment re - present an important bench-mark in global economic interdependence. There had been a definite shift towards a more favourable perception of inward foreign direct investment in many developing countries since the late 1970s, which became more widespread during the 1980s. Some salient features of such investment in the region, with special reference to the sources, inward direction and sectoral distribution, together with some issues and policies concerning these flows, are examined in this section.
