Published since 1948, this report examines various aspects of the previous year’s macroeconomic situation in the region and makes projections for the coming months. The study also includes country notes that review the performance of the main economic indicators in the period analysed.

Electric power

The main obstacles to the achievement by the Latin-American countries of a complete or short-term solution to the power shortage which has existed for a number of years continue to be the amount of capital required to expand the output of electric power, the rate of urban growth and the increase of industrial development.
