Published since 1948, this report examines various aspects of the previous year’s macroeconomic situation in the region and makes projections for the coming months. The study also includes country notes that review the performance of the main economic indicators in the period analysed.

During 1955 gross energy consumption in Latin America increased by 6 per cent. Although this represents a 4 per cent increment in per capita consumption, there was no major expansion of the region’s energy resources in relation to the gross product, since the latter rose in the same proportion.
