Preliminary study of the effects of post-war industrialization on import structures and external vulnerability in Latin Amerca

Sufficient time has now passed since the end of the Second World War for some effects of the industrialization programmes in Latin America to be seen more clearly than hitherto. This enables light to be shed on the question whether the economies of Latin American countries in process of industrialization are tending to become more vulnerable or less vulnerable to short-term fluctuations in foreign trade, such as the sudden worsening of export markets.
