The labour situation and job creation programmes

In recent years the labour situation in the region has undergone a series of changes. In several countries, labour regulations have been amended in an effort to make the labour market more flexible, with a view to enhancing national competitiveness and reducing unemployment. In addition, programmes have been devised to create jobs by building public works and to provide training and skills-upgrading for the unemployed.
