This overview includes analysis of the latest demographic trends, such as the unprecedented youth bulge, as well as projections and implications for the quality of life of women, men and young people. The Report includes original reporting from China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, India, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Foreword

Seven billion people will inhabit the earth on 31 October. During my lifetime, I have seen world population nearly triple. And 13 years from now, I will see another billion added to our numbers. In my grandchildren’s lifetimes, there could be as many as 10 billion people in our world.
