Committee for Development Policy Note

In this Policy Note, the Committee for Development Policy proposes principles and policy alternatives for a post-2015 development agenda, in the light of consideration of lessons learnt from the Millennium Development Goals experience and the key development challenges that have emerged in recent years. It suggests a general contour of a transformative framework with broader, more nuanced and context specific development strategies. The Policy Note will contribute to efforts by the international community to find effective solutions for development issues.

The present Policy Note reflects the collective views of the members of the Committee for Development Policy (CDP). The insights and ideas they contributed during its preparation are gratefully acknowledged. Special gratitude is extended to Bina Agarwal, José Antonio Alonso, Lourdes Arizpe, Giovanni Andrea Cornia, Sakiko Fukuda-Parr, Norman Girvan, Philippe Hein, Frances Stewart and Milica Uvalic, who prepared background notes and contributed other materials that served as important inputs for both the Committee’s deliberations and the present Policy Note. The contribution provided by Rob Vos, Director of the Development Policy and Analysis Division of United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, is greatly appreciated. The publication also relied on substantive support from Ana Luiza Cortez and Namsuk Kim of the CDP secretariat.
