International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

In 2001, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continued to focus on bringing about the development and transfer of peaceful nuclear technologies; building and maintaining a global nuclear safety regime; and guarding against the proliferation of nuclear weapons and strengthening the security of nuclear material and facilities. After the terrorist attacks of 11 September in the United States, IAEA intensified its action to upgrade nuclear safety and security.
