Can WTO do away with trade agreements between groups of countries that grant each other preferential status, so as to advance the trade and economic development of all WTO members?

Despite its guiding principle of non-discrimination in trade, WTO permits preferential trade agreements between its Members. However, such agreements are subject to narrowly defined conditions. In particular, these provide that the agreements should facilitate trade between their constituent countries, that they should be trade creating, not trade distorting, and that they should not raise barriers to trade with other WTO Members.
