Mapping international production

The preceding chapter has reviewed the setting within which international production is evolving, documented the growth of FDI in 2000 and examined the performance of countries in terms of the extent to which they have succeeded in attracting FDI. This chapter turns to the spread of FDI and, in particular, examines it at the global, regional, national and sub-national levels and also for a few industries and corporate functions. As the mapping in this chapter shows, FDI patterns are not uniform. International production is spatially concentrated.
