A number of institutional and administrative matters were reviewed by the United Nations in 2000. The General Assembly held its fifty-fifth session, designated the "Millennium Assembly of the United Nations", during which it held a Millennium Summit (6-8 September), attended by heads of State or Government. Earlier in the year, the Assembly resumed its fifty-fourth session, convened its twenty-third and twenty-fourth special sessions and resumed its tenth emergency special session.
