As far as the rates of growth in per capita and gross national products were concerned, the years 1974 and 1975 were generally unsatisfactory ones from the viewpoint of ESCAP countries. While 1976 may bring some relief, the situation is far below what is required or consistent with the 6.0 per cent target rate of growth in gross national product for the region as a whole set for the Second United Nations Development Decade.
