In 1980 the Mexican economy continued the expansive trend begun in 1978, since when the gross domestic product has grown in a markedly steady manner at an annual rate of over 8%. Such dynamic evolution has had positive effects on employment levels, thus helping to reduce one of the traditionally most serious problems.
