The level of public social expenditure

The volume of resources allocated to social sectors continued to vary widely from country to country. Although in countries where levels were low, there was faster growth in social spending as a percentage of gross domestic product, the volume was still so low that it was only half the average for Latin America, trailing by six percentage points.
