The focus of the present chapter is the potential of the accounts of the SEEA Central Framework to be extended and integrated with other information. Connecting SEEA accounts to a range of existing information sources can facilitate a better understanding of multifaceted issues, such as sustainable development. This chapter recognizes that appropriate responses to environmental pressures will usually rely on an understanding of the connections among the environment, the economy and individuals. In this context, while the SEEA accounts do not provide a complete information set, they can provide an important part of the information required. Generally, the SEEA is a framework that supports and encourages the integration of data.
