‘A co-operative of intellectuals’: The encounter between co-operative values and urban planning. An Italian case-study

Caire-Co-operative of Architects and Engineers in Reggio Emilia is a highly original co-operative institution – unique in its kind in Italy and we believe abroad as well; it may be said to have been born in the classrooms of the Milan Polytechnic. Some of its students after graduation came together in a co-operative for the study of urban planning, development plans, road works, etc.; in a short time it was able to establish its presence and reputation thanks to its fruitful activity in the field of social housing.
