Generally speaking, the economy of Honduras has not gained as much as the other Central American economies from the relatively high demand on the world market which prevailed throughout the sixties. During this period, the average growth rate of the product hovered around 5.5 per cent, whereas the average for the area as a whole was 6.3 per cent.
