The following case studies provide readers with seven examples where the best practices discussed in this guidance document have been implemented at operating mines around the world. Case Studies 1-3 discuss the assessment, planning, and methane management practices implemented at three longwall mines to address methane control problems. Case Study 4 addresses reduction of explosion risks at room-and-pillar mines. In Case Study 5, methane capture and utilisation for power generation is examined. Case Study 6 and 7 focus on VAM abatement and utilisation.
