Climate change adaptation and mitigation

The Republic of Moldova has ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol. As a non-Annex I party, the country has no commitments to reduce GHG emissions under the Kyoto Protocol. Since 2005, the most important developments in the Republic of Moldova regarding climate change are the preparation of the Second National Communication, the negotiations since 2010 of an Association Agreement with the EU that contains a chapter on climate change and the country’s ratification of the Energy Community Treaty4 in 2010.
