Nepal has been experimenting with four types of building codes. The most complex buildings must follow a comprehensive building code, while simple one and two storey houses have fewer rules to follow. This way, one can improve the environmental sustainability and disaster resilience of all types of buildings, without making it too expensive for those who can’t afford it.
