The Northern Triangle of Central America—which is comprised of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador—is experiencing high levels of violence. All three countries have homicide rates higher than the regional average, with El Salvador’s 2016 homicide rate estimated at almost four times the regional average. Violence, crime and gangrelated activities contribute to insecurity and forced displacement, which can create the need for humanitarian assistance.
