This chapter further explores the interdependencies of energy and water in the light of energy endowment differences in the region, affecting sustainable development goals in general and services delivery in particular, and proposes the nexus approach to foster greater efficiency and technological innovation in the energy sector. The dependency on desalination is examined through the available technologies and efficiencies. Alternative energy sources including nuclear energy are considered within a nexus framework in order to evaluate each source and its interlinkages with other natural resources.
