ISO/TS 16949:2002 was prepared by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), which is an international group of vehicle manufacturers, and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), with support from ISO/TC 176, Quality management and quality assurance, and published in March 2002. ISO/TS 16949:2002 is the new automotive standard, which many vehicle manufacturers are either mandating or accepting instead of QS-9000, VDA 6.1, EAQF or AVSQ.
