Selecting the mode of entry into a particular market is one of the most crucial decisions for an exporter to take as it has significant implications for a wide range of international marketing concerns. When choosing a mode of entry, the exporter should consider the similarities between the foreign market and the domestic market, how much after-sales service is required, tariffs and shipping, lead time requirements, brand awareness, and competitive advantage. There are two main options for market entry: direct exporting and indirect exporting.
