Other political and security questions

The United Nations continued to consider in 1999 support for new or restored democracies, the promotion of self-determination of the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories (NSGTs) and the peaceful uses of outer space. It also considered the activities of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation, the reform of UN information policies, and arrangements for the convening in 2000 of a special United Nations Millennium Assembly and Summit, under the theme "The United Nations in the twenty-first century".
