United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO)

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) continued in 2004 to promote cooperation in education, science, culture and communication among its member States. The General Conference, which met biennially to decide on policy, programme and budgetary matters, was scheduled to hold its thirty-third session in October 2005. The 58- member Executive Board held its one hundred and sixty-ninth (19-29 April) and one hundred and seventieth (4-14 October) sessions in Paris.
