25. The topic area of household decision-making is very large, with a vast body of academic literature underpinning it. Only a part of the field can be considered potentially fruitful for the production of valuable official statistics, however. Mapping out the scope of the present endeavour entails first delimiting the term ‘household’, and then understanding what is meant by ‘power’ and ‘decision-making’ for the purpose of this work.
