The United Nations Road Safety Performance Review for Ethiopia is prepared with the support of United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The study assesses the road safety performance of the country with respect to the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety, the African Road Safety Action Plan for the period 2011–2020 and the Global Framework Plan of Action for Road Safety. Ethiopia has undertaken many interventions based on its available resources and institutional capacities; however, the trend of crashes shows an increase by about 9 per cent on average from 2010 to 2018 (Federal Police Commission, 2019).
