In addition to statistical sample surveys, administrative data that are disaggregated by sex provide useful data for understanding the societal response to violence against women and women’s use of services. Statistics that are collected in the day-to-day operation of services and agencies that provide support and assistance to women victimized by violence can in some cases provide much needed information that is not obtainable through sample surveys. Data concerning trafficking of women and femicide are two examples of cases where administrative data play an important role.
