The carrying capacity of the Earth

image of The carrying capacity of the Earth

The modern era is extremely unusual in the history of humankind. It is an exceptional period lasting only around 300 years, in which the world’s population is expected to explode from several hundred million to 10 billion, and its future is uncertain (because the modern era is driven by finite resources of fossil fuels). It seems that today’s tragedy lies in our misunderstanding that the current situation is a permanent status quo that should last for years to come.
