The story of growth in Africa over the past decade can be partly explained by the remarkable growth in the services sector. The services sector in the continent holds much promise, though the full potential of trade in services is yet to be realized. Services promise to be a vital export sector and an important contributor to total employment, despite a high degree of variation across African economies.
